I sat down with the financial advisor/money guru/podcaster/debut author/all-around-inspiring human to ask 30 rapid fiRE questions on everything from writing tips for fellow authors, to what the money-savvy single mom splurges on.
What’s your No. 1 writing superstition? I always meditate before starting to write.
Where’s your favourite place to write? On my bed.
Cats or dogs? Cats!
Who gives you inspiration for writing? Glennon Doyle.
What book did you lie about reading? The Outsiders (in junior high).
What is one thing you regret spending money on? A trip to see a guy.
Beach or ski trip? Beach.
A book you wish more people knew about? The Power of your Subconscious Mind.
What’s something most people like but you don’t understand? Waking up early.
An author you wish more people knew about? Bob Proctor—he mainly was a speaker but has some great audio books/recorded presentations.
A book you’ve read more than once? The Psychology of Money.
Your zodiac sign. Virgo.
A quote you love. “Nobody puts baby in the corner” - Dirty Dancing
Your favourite surprise ending in a book? Verity (there are lots of twists and turns).
Alcohol or marijuana? Alcohol.
If you only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would you choose? French fries.
Stupidest question you’ve ever been asked as an author? If I would be interested in space travel… it got even weirder from there.
What's your golden rule for saving money? Make it a priority.
Favourite cheesy love song? “(I’ve Had) The time of my life” (I’m clearly a Dirty Dancing fan!)
What unusual trait do you find attractive in a person? Being a bookworm.
What’s something you’ve never been able to do well? Sports….all of them.
If you had a time machine, what time period would you travel to? The future (actually maybe that space travel I was asked about would make more sense then!).
Would you trade intelligence for looks or vice versa? Intelligence, always.
What do you like most about yourself? My sense of humour.
What time of day are you most productive writing? Evening.
What do you allow yourself to splurge on? Trips to Disney!
How many times did you cry writing this book? Several (I’m an emotional person…).
Who's your fictional crush? I cant think of one from a book (I read alot of suspense type books so shouldn’t fall for the bad guy!) but from a show I would say Pedro Pascal’s character in the Madallorian.
What do you want to be when you grow up? I want to own an empire of McDonald's restaurants (so I can eat all the delicious fries I want!).
