Meet RIVKAH

RIVKAH Books is Canada’s first broad commercial trade book imprint dedicated exclusively to Jewish voices, themes, and characters.

Founded by Rebecca Eckler and operating under the umbrella of RE:BOOKS, RIVKAH publishes fiction and nonfiction that reflect the diversity of Jewish experience while resonating across communities. “As the world tries to erase or blacklist Jewish authors, we don’t whisper back. We publish louder,” says Eckler. “Our titles may reflect the Jewish experience or culture and themes, but will be appreciated by anyone—Jewish or not—who enjoys a good read.”

The name “Rivkah,” meaning “to bind” and “to connect” in Hebrew, captures the imprint’s mission: to strengthen cultural bonds and ensure Jewish stories remain part of our shared national narrative. Building on the success of Eckler’s RE:BOOKS—which champions debut women’s voices—Rivkah expands this vision by welcoming all writers to explore Jewish identity, history, and contemporary life. The RIVKAH imprint is even more meaningful as it is both Rebecca and her daughter Rowan’s Hebrew names.

In a time of rising antisemitism, RIVKAH Books provides a vital platform for Jewish voices to be celebrated, not sidelined. Its trade list complements the scholarly focus of the New Jewish Press, offering accessible titles for general audiences in Canada and beyond.
