CONTEST RULES
RE:BOOKS’ Write Away Summer 2023
RE:BOOKS’ Write Away Summer Contest (the “Contest”) is governed by the following rules (the “Official Rules”).
By participating or attempting to participate in the Contest, you will be deemed to have received, understood, and agreed to these Official Rules.
Although the Contest may be promoted, communicated, or administered by means of a third party social media or social networking service or site (a “ Third Party Service ”), the Contest is not sponsored, endorsed, administered by or associated with any Third Party Service. For greater clarity, Third Party Services include but are not limited to the following: Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn and Facebook. The Contest is sponsored and administered by Re:books.
Any questions, comments or complaints regarding the Contest should be directed to RE:BOOKS and not to any Third Party Service.
ELIGIBILITY?
The Contest is open only to residents of Canada (excluding Quebec) who have reached the age of 18 as of the date of entry.
The following individuals are not eligible to enter the Contest:
(a) employees, officers, and directors of: (i) RE:BOOKS; and (ii) any prize suppliers;
(b) a household member of any of the individuals listed in (a) above; and
(c) members of the immediate family (spouse, parent, child, sibling) of the individuals listed in (a), above.
2. WHEN DOES THE CONTEST BEGIN/END?
The Contest begins at Tuesday, July 4, 2023, at 7:00 pm Eastern Time, and runs until Friday, Sept. 1, 2023, at 11:59 am Eastern Time (“Entry Period”).
3. HOW DO I ENTER THE CONTEST?
No purchase is necessary to enter the Contest.

4. COULD MY ENTRY BE REFUSED OR REJECTED?
Your entry could be refused or rejected if:
(a) you fail to meet the Contest’s eligibility criteria;
(b) you attempt to enter the Contest in a manner not authorized by these Official Rules;
(c) your entry contains false or misleading information, or is late, falsified, illegible, or incomplete or otherwise irregular;
(d) your entry is submitted using robotic, automated, programmed, or other illicit means; or
(e) your entry is not in compliance with these Official Rules.
In addition, RE:BOOKS reserves the right to refuse any entry for any other reason in its sole discretion.
5. WHAT ARE THE ENTRY CONDITIONS and HOW DO THE RELEASES LIMIT THEIR LIABILITY?
By entering the Contest:
(a) you agree to be bound by these Official Rules and by the decisions of Re:books, which decisions are final;
(b) you agree that RE:BOOKS shall have the right at any time to require proof of identity or eligibility to enter the Contest; failure to provide any such proof upon request may result in disqualification;
(c) you release and forever discharge RE:BOOKS, its respective affiliates, and subsidiaries, and all of their respective directors, officers, employees, agents, representatives, licensees, successors and assigns, as well as any Third Party Services, (collectively, the “ Releases”), and agree to indemnify and hold harmless each of the Releases, from and against any and all claims, damages or liability, including any costs or losses related to personal injury, death, damage to or loss or destruction of property, arising out of, or in any way related to, (i) your participation in, or inability to participate in, the Contest, (ii) the awarding, receipt, possession, use, redemption or misuse of any prize, in whole or in part, or activity related to any prize, or your inability to receive, use or redeem any prize; (iii) your failure to comply with these Official Rules, or (iv) any breach of these Official Rules.
RE:BOOKS will not be liable to you for any indirect, special, consequential, or punitive damages in connection with the Contest or these Official Rules.
6. WHAT ARE THE CONTEST PRIZES?
There is one (1) prize available to be won in the Contest and that is publishing contract from RE:BOOKS Publishing House valued at $15,000 or more.
Any winner is solely responsible for coordinating use of the prize and for all taxes, fees, and expenses not otherwise set forth herein. Prize may be subject to additional terms and conditions as imposed by prize suppliers.
7. ARE THERE ANY PRIZE CONDITIONS?
In addition to any prize conditions provided elsewhere in these Official Rules, any prize awarded in the Contest is subject to the following conditions:
The prize must be accepted as awarded, will be awarded to the confirmed winner only, and is not transferable, resellable or redeemable for cash.
RE:BOOKS reserves the right to substitute any prize in whole or in part in the event that all or any component of the prize is unavailable, with a prize of equal or greater retail value.
RE:BOOKS does not make any representation or warranty, expressed or implied, regarding the quality or characteristics of the prize.
8. HOW WILL THE POTENTIAL WINNER(S) BE SELECTED?
RE:BOOKS will read all eligible entries received for the prize. One entrant will be selected as a potential winner and notified using the information provided at the time of entry. If any potential winner does not respond to such notification within three (3) business days, declines a prize for any reason, or does not meet the requirements set forth in these Official Rules, as determined by RE:BOOKS, the potential winner will be disqualified and, at Re:books’ discretion, an alternate potential winner may be randomly selected from among remaining eligible entries, or the prize may be cancelled.
9. HOW CAN A POTENTIAL WINNER BECOME A WINNER?
To be declared a winner, a potential winner:
(a) must comply with these Official Rules;
(b) must sign and return, within any designated time period, a standard release of liability and consent to publicity form and any other documentation as reasonably required by RE:BOOKS, including any documentation required in connection with publicity as set out in section 12 of these Official Rules; and
(c) may be required to provide proof of identification to confirm eligibility or to claim a prize.
10. WHAT ARE THE ODDS OF WINNING A PRIZE?
The odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received.
11. HOW DO I CLAIM A PRIZE?
Once a potential winner is confirmed as a winner, prize distribution will be promptly coordinated.
12. WILL I APPEAR IN ANY PUBLICITY IF I AM A WINNER?
If you are a winner, RE:BOOKS may require you to appear in publicity related to the Contest or to any similar contest.
By entering the Contest, you consent to RE:BOOKS’ use of your name, home town, photograph, voice and/or image for promotional and publicity purposes in all media used by RE:BOOKS, without further notification, permission, payment or consideration.
13. WHAT LAWS APPLY TO THE CONTEST?
The Contest and these Official Rules are governed by the laws applicable in Ontario. Any disputes, claims or causes of action arising out of or connected with the Contest, prize or these Official Rules will be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, and exclusively by the appropriate court of Ontario, Canada.
For Quebec residents, any decision to be made by RE:BOOKS may be subject to a ruling of the Régie des alcools des courses et des jeux du Québe” (the “Régie”). Any litigation respecting the conduct or organization of a publicity contest may be submitted to the Régie for a ruling. Any litigation respecting the awarding of a prize may be submitted to the Régie only for the purpose of helping the parties reach a settlement.
15. CAN RE:BOOKS CANCEL OR AMEND THE CONTEST?
RE:BOOKS may cancel, modify, or suspend the Contest or amend these Official Rules for any reason without prior notice, subject to prior approval by the Régie if legally required. For example, if for any reason the Contest is not capable of running as originally planned, RE:BOOKS may adjust any of the dates, timeframes or other Contest mechanics, or suspend or cancel the Contest.
You may not amend these Official Rules in any way.
16. WOULD RE:BOOKS EVER DISQUALIFY OR BAN SOMEONE FROM A CONTEST?
RE:BOOKS may disqualify without notice or ban someone from the Contest or any future contest for any other reason, including if Re:books find that a person has:
(a) tampered with or attempted to tamper with, or undermined or attempted to undermine, the legitimate operation of the Contest;
(b) provided false or misleading information;
(c) acted in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner, or with the intent to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any person; or
(d) otherwise violated these Official Rules.
17. WHAT HAPPENS IF THESE OFFICIAL RULES CONTRADICT OTHER CONTEST MATERIALS?
In the event of any discrepancy or inconsistency between these Official Rules and disclosures or statements made by Re:books or appearing in other Contest-related materials, these Official Rules shall govern.
18. WHAT HAPPENS IF THERE’S INCONSISTENCY BETWEEN THE ENGLISH VERSION AND THE FRENCH VERSION?
If there is any discrepancy or inconsistency between the English language version and the French language version of these Contest Rules, the English version will prevail, govern and control.
